Mudkip, level 22, along with his Torchic partner. Mudkip runs Water Gun, Mud-Slap, Tackle, and Bide. Torchic runs Scratch, Focus Energy, Ember, and Peck. They are about to face Groudon. It should be easy, right?

I mean, Mudkips base Water Gun can 2-shot most enemies there. Except it isn't. Once they got to Groudon, Water Gun did 5 damage. Mud-Slap did 1, and so does Torchic's Ember, Scratch, etc.Before, when the two were level 18, they handled Articuno fairly well. Sure, I had to try a few times, but after Mud-Slap did it's thing, it was over quickly.The only reason I made it out of that fight was because I packed 5 reviver seeds and Mud-Slap ruined Groudon's accuracy. So we ended up in a stalemate. I hardly did any damage, and Groudon couldn't hit me.

Eventually, after 1 failure, Groudon was chipped down. And now, immediately after, I have to go fight Rayquaza, with 1 reviver seed.Is this a glitch? Is it because of the Sun weather? Am I under-leveled? Please, someone, tell me what I'm doing wrong. SPOILER. Personally I like the difficulty.

They are some of the only Pokemon games that give a good challenge. Purity forest is one of the funnest things in the franchise imo. (Helps that you can't bring items, so cost). But yes, they are brutal at the end of the story.

Avoid multi attacks like Altaria's as a single attack can easily burn through multiple reviver seeds if you get unlucky. Maybe relearn sand attack on Torchic. If you don't mind making use of attract, it will save you a lot of pain.

(But it takes away almost all the difficulty Attract, Smokescreen and Thunder Wave are incredibly busted, but mostly attract because almost anything can learn it through a relatively common TM).
